Chapter 7 Demo Walkthrough

Prep Work

  1. Physically set up the demo kit if it is not already
  2. Confirm successful IR829 upstream Internet and regional broker connectivity (if using an Internet-based regional EFM broker)
  3. Open the EFM Dataflow Editor and the following data flows:
  1. Open the EFM DOT Dashboard and perform the following steps:
    1. Clear the Vehicle Safety Events table
    2. Clear the RWIS graphs (optional if they don’t look recent)
  2. Open the architecture diagram from here
  3. Test the demo interactions detailed below

  1. Show the components of the kit, especially the simulated roadside devices (serial DMS, RWIS via IP/MQTT, DSRC RSU)
  2. Explain the connectivity to the IR829 and describe the EFM tiered architecture (devices, edge, region, datacenter) using the diagram:

  1. Normalized RWIS data flowing through the EFM tiers
  1. Sampled stored RWIS data in the datacenter
  1. Serial DMS connectivity
  1. Local roadside weather event and policy integration
  1. DSRC data sampling at the edge
